No Breastfeeding Alowed?

Embarassed to tears,

I am a new mother who just moved here from Ontario. I was breast feeding my son the other night in a local restaurant and was asked to stop or I would have to leave.Well I left litteraly in tears,.Is this normal practice around here?

I am a mom of 2 boys, 5 months and 3 years, I have never been more compelled to respond to a forum in my life.
For all the women who breastfeed, do so as you wish, where you want, and when you need to, be it a restaurant or the mall. For all who disagree, shame on you, good thing you arent living in a third world country where this is the only means of feeding your chilren!! and if you are in a restaurant, dont look!!! If someone ever told me I should be ashamed of myself or whatever, I would be certain to tell him to do a little research as I am certain there is no law against feeding your child..adjust people and WAKE UP!! Times have changed..

I still think its disgusting for someone to do it in a restaurant. Unless they are COMPLETELY covered up! When I go out to eat that would be the last thing I would want my family and I to have to see.
