When kids show it all

Do you think it is appropriate when a girl no older than the age of 9 is wearing a skirt so short that her underwear is clearly visible to the general public?

This is what I saw at the cash uptown Friday evening while running some errands. This, little girl was waiting in line with her parents, and toddler aged brother.

This scene is all too common on today's city streets, and you've probably seen it too, or something similar.

A U.S. group has come out with a new clothing line that aims to reintegrate modest fashion into today's main stream, and recently held a fashion show in Calgary.

However, some parents are opposed to the effort for conservatism and don't agree with the move. One mother heard on CBC Radio said she is proud that her daughter is fashionable, no matter what she is wearing and was if fact angry with her own mother in law, when she purchased a book for her daughter on the topic of 'why girls should be more modest', and even refused to allow her daughter to read it.

Hm, interesting. What do you think about this new bare it all trend in young kids? No big deal, or crisis that needs to go?

you know things like this really get under my skin. its like seeing a bikini on a baby! same thing, just plain wrong, why does a baby need to wear a bikini people. making babies sex symbols is what that is if you ask me.

I tell you one thing, if my son brout home a girl dressed like that even if they were of age! i would throw her out.

thats my two cents!

I find this incredibly sad and disheartening. And we wonder where the market for child porongraphy comes from? No wonder. The media portrays skimpy and skinny as beautiful and market it to young girls and their parents give in! It's awful! No wonder girls as young as 7 start worrying about their weight! It's awful and those parents who actually buy those things for their young girls should be ashamed of themselves. Where else would a 9 year old get clothing like that if a parent didn't buy it?

Unfotunately I think that it is becoming an all to common thing to see. It's very sad because a lot of the times young girls dress like this to get attention no matter whether it is bad or good.

Well, if someone had taken a photo of that little girl with a cell phone, it could have passed on the internet as child porn no doubt! I am just so irked by this.

It's scarey that you would let your child show underwear and belly's when we are in a country were sex affenders are walking after a short time in prison. I hope my daughter had more commen sense then to expect me to allow her to leave the house showing skin.

I think it is a pedofiles dream. When you let your young child dress like that you are asking for trouble. It makes a sex symbol of young girls and encourages them to be looked upon in a sexual way promoting sex to young people.
A man is a man whether they are young or old and they will look.
I see the old perverted looking men sitting on benches at the mall looking at these young girls and it upsets me. I often mumble pervert when passing them but it is just as much the girls fault as it is the men looking at her.
As a mother it will be over my dead body I will ever let my soon to be born daughter dress like a prostitute.
As for the mothers who allow this, be assured they are also probably the same ones you see dressed like a street walker headed out the the bars on the weekend.

i think bikinis and stuff on toddlers well its fine if they are swimming in their backyard but if you are taking your child to a public pool or beach its a big no-no there are way too many freaky people out there. as for the clothes i dont really like the idea period. i like the clothes that look like baby clothes no point in dressing your baby like a gronwup up...the time will come when they want to wear mini-skirts and such!

Over my dead body will my little girl ever dress like a "prosti-tot". Parents have a responsibility to make sure that there kids are dressing age-appropriate. I have said this over and over, just because kids want something (slutty clothes to coffee for 2yr olds (yes, my dumbass husband has been giving my baby coffee)) doesn't mean they should be allowed to have it. You're the parent. Make the right choice.

Ya know...that really scares me. I have 2 daughters and I can say this. I would NEVER allow my child to leave our home dressed like that. I work in the mall and I see this everyday. People wonder why so many young girls are having babies or getting attacked. THATS WHY. The fact that a young girl even OWNS a skirt that short...boggles my mind but even worse...her mother probaby bought it for her.

I am just shocked that she was with her parents. Usually fathers seem overly protective of their kids! I was so bothered by seeing this little girl dressed like that, that I wanted to say something to him.

The fact that the girl owns it aside...who the hell thinks it's right to MAKE clothes like that for that age group??? I think the manufacturers are just as much to blame as the parents.

Ah, good point!

Hey Wendy, I always thought that babies in a bathing suit were sooo cute, bikini or not. It never occurred to me that some other people see babies in bikinis as sex symbols. Makes me think twice about what I will buy my five month old girl. Thanks for that point of view.

i have no problem with a baby in a bathing suit, but i see no reason what so ever to where a bikini on a baby. its absolutley disgusting to me! especially the little triangle ones, its like come on people, those are for women with boobs! not babies!!!!!!!!!!
