"I was wondering approximately the time your precious babies go to bed? Lately mine has been hitting the hay around 9pm and sleeping until 6am-7am. I was talking to my friend about this and her baby (7 months) goes to bed around 11pm and is up at 5am. She told me that I am putting mine to bed WAY to EARLY How can that be TOO early? Is it too early?
I know A LOT about child development and I know that every child is different, and that children NEED their sleep. I LOVE my friend but she is getting annoying! She is ALWAYS comparing our daughters!"

Mine go to bed between 7:30 and 8 every night, after their baths.
I get this all the time from my mother, who also thinks I shouldn't let them nap... Drives me nuts..
Well my daughter has a schedual now, she's 3 months old. She gets a bath at 7 pm every night followed by a bottle (4oz) at 7:15pm then at 7:30pm I put her in her crib and by 7:40pm she is out cold sleeping till 7 -8 am without waking up during the night so that means no bottle feeding nor diaper change.
Lauren is now 23months and has had the same bedtime for the last year. Between 7 and 7:30PM. She'll sleep until about 7AM.
My 16 month old goes to bed at 8pm. If he's overtired we'll put him to bed as early as 6:30.
On bright days he gets up around 6am, and on gloomier days he gets up at 7:30am.
My 2 year old goes to bed around 8 or 8:30 and is up between 6 and 7 and he has anywhere from a 2-3hr nap everyday. I figure he gets the sleep he needs and if he didn't need that much, he wouldn't sleep that much.
How old is your baby anyway?? Most little babes need up to 12 hours sleep a night and they usually still nap! My son is a little over 3 years old. I have always put him to bed between 7 and 7:30. Although some people may not think it, our children need their routines and early bed times! It just gets harder to adjust their bedtimes as they get older, so start early, and they'll always know that after dinner, bath, stories and milk, it is time for bed! You also need that time at night for yourself. My son still sleeps about 10 hours a night, and depending if he gets any less, he usually needs a nap. However, if he does have a nap in the afternoon, he is then up until 9/10ish... we are going throught a hellish cycles right now... about two days a week we get messed up because my grandmother who keeps him during the day (for 2 days a week) lets him nap very late in the afternoon and then we are fighting to get back into our routine.. ahh. haha.
But you are right, although every child is different, they still all need their sleep and routines/schedules. It lets them function! And us Mommies too!

I came across this.
My son is 9 months and has been has been going to bed between 8-830 and sleeps till anytime between 6:30-7 and he has 2 naps in the day.
my daughter goes to bed around 7 and sleeps till 7 with a 1 hour nap in the day although during the summer sehs been sleeping 8 till 7 witha 2 hr nap..
My girls (4 1/2 & 18mos) both go to bed around 7:30-8pm. My youngest gets up any time between 6:30-7:30am, and my oldest around 7-7:30am. My youngest also naps for about 1 1/2 hrs anytime between 11:30-1pm. Every childs different. When my oldest was 1yr I had to cut out naps all together, or she wouldn't go to sleep until after 11pm!!! I don't know about you guys, but I rely on a few good childfree hours before my own bedtime!lol
my 1 1/2 year old goes to bed at 7:30 except for nights we go swimming, which is maybe 1 night a week, and then she is in bed shortly after 8pm. she sleeps anywhere from 7-11am but on most mornings she is up between 8:30 and 9:30. she then has a nap going down anywhere from 12:30-1:30 and sleeps anywhere from 1 hour to 4. on days she sleeps till 11am or later i don't let her have a nap or bed time will be affected.
So mine is going to bed way later than everyone elses!! Thanks you ladies, I will be letting my annoying friend know that for sure!! I really appreciate it. Now she looks like the bad mother NOT me.

I agree. When my kids go to bed, that is my downtime. Me and Hubby will watch a movie, I will get some cleaning done, or we will have friends over.
Summer (14mths) is somewhat of a "sleep Lover " lol , she goes to bed at 8:30 and wakes up between 9:30 and 10 ...then she has two , 2 hour naps , one around lunch time and one again around 3-3:30. I know ...now everyone hates me ..i guess she takes after me ...
I have read that it is recommended for babies around 6 mos to go to bed at 7-730 and 1yrs 8-830
Wow, I only wish my 6 month old slept like all of your babies!! My 3 year old sleeps great, 7:30pm til 7am but my baby is another story. I have tried everything and I'm lucky if I can get her settled at night by 10pm and themn she still wakes 2-3 times during the night to nurse. I have jsut resigned myself to live with it until she outgrows it, cause I don't want to leave her to cry, but non of the more "gentler" approaches seem to work with her. Any advice would be great!
My son goes to bed for the night around 8pm and wakes up at 7am every morning.Without waking for a bottle/diaper change, and hes 4 months old.I think getting them into an early bedtime routine works great! And lets face it,who doesnt love having some "me time" after the kids have settled into bed for the night? I cant imagine putting my son to bed at 11pm!! You should recommend that your friend try YOUR method, and see just how much she would enjoy it! lol
My youngest goes to bed and has been for months at 73-8 and gets up at 7am. My oldest goes to bed 830-9. I put them to bed so i can have some me time or me and hubby time before we dose for the night as well. I think 11pm is way to late for any child to go to sleep and i wouldnt want my children to be on the routine. Half I cant make it that late, lol.
My 15 month old daugther goes to bed between 7:00 and 8:00 and usually gets up around 6:30 or 7:00. She also still naps anywhere from 30 mins to 3 hours each day, depending on her mood and what we are doing that day. That has been her routine for a few months now. It sure does sound like your friend's baby is not getting sleep, but like you said every baby is different.
My Son is 22 months and goes to bed at 7:30pm right after his bath every night and gets up around 7-7:30 am with a 2 hour nap at 11:30-1:30pm or when he wakes up! My Daughter 6 months goes to bed at 8:00pm and sleeps through until 6:30-7Am and naps 2 Hours in Am and 2 Hours in mid Afternoon. WE had issues with our son not sleeping through right away but we found he was over tired and we just had to try different times that worked best for him. never any later than 8 though! If he is over tired when he goes to bed he tosses alot at night and doesn't get his proper rest and is up earlier that normal, and is very grumpy the next day. Hope this helps!
Logan is 7 months and goes to bed at the latest 8:30 but usually around 7:30. He wakes up to eat at 3:00 AM and falls right back asleep until 8:30 AM. I don't mind the 3 AM wake up for the early evening and late wake up LOL! Oh and he naps at 10:30 for about 2 hrs and then a cat nap around 5 for about 20 mins.
I think it also depends on the parents schedule, some parents work earlier than others. If your child has to get up at 6 or somehting, then they would go to bed earlier. If you dont have to get them up until 8 or so, then they would probably go to bed later. Later meaning 8 or 8:30.
Jordan is 5 and I cut his naps out when he was 2 years old because he would be up until sometimes 2am! I put him on a scheduled bedtime of 8pm, 9pm on Saturdays. Now that he goes to school during the week his bedtime is 7pm and Saturday is 8pm. He wakes up around 7am (atleast that's when he wakes us up lol!)
My youngest son is 6 months old and goes to bed for the night around 8:30pm, waking up around 7:30am or sooner if big brother wakes him up.
I would go crazy without my quiet nights! I don't know how I would get any housework done, eat something without sharing, do school work, whatever! My boyfriend and I also sneak away Friday nights for shopping and coffee without kids.. Mom comes to watch the sleeping children lol.. if they were up til 11pm I wouldn't have any of that, I wouldn't be much of a person that's for sure!
as a single mother, i need my baby to go to bed early, if she didnt when would i ever get formula and bottles done up, or get time to clean up, i think early bed times are healthy! for both mommy and baby.
My son is 13 months now, but for the past 5-6 months, he's been on the same schedule where he has 2 naps a day one from 9-11 (approx), another from 2-4 (approx), then at night, he gets supper, a bath, playtime, quiet time, sippy cup, and he is out cold by 8 and wakes up between 6-7 the following day. Every child is different, but since I've gotten my son on this schedule, he has been a much happier and easy going baby. Not to mention, it gives me some time to myself at night to clean my house, get ready for the next day, have time for my boyfriend and I and be in bed at a decent hour ourselves. I do believe he needs at least that many hours of sleep a day.
My kids (2 1/2 and 3 1/2) go to bed at 7-8 every night and get up at 6:30-7:30 every morning. They also sleep for about 1 1/2 hrs after lunch.
