This is so perfect cuz I was gonna tell one earlier on a tangent, but it was the wrong place. Thanks suzys-mom. I have a zillion of these. Where shall I start?
Well, I was reminded of an ANNOYING and RUDE nurse story from childbirth visit. I have many others. This is just a lil starter for now!
As I was getting ready to leave the hospital, sittin in my wheelchair, all pretty blown up like a balloon, my feet swelled to the size of, I don't even know, my husband said I looked like a special effect in a movie. Anyway, feelin like hell from the c-section, tired, ready to go, scared, excited, anxious, tired, tired, tired, the giant bitch of a nurse says to me,
"You didn't change a diaper the whole time you were here???! I'm gonna need to see you change a diaper before I let you leave," dead serious.
(NO ONE helped us pretty much, and Jason got sick from taking care of Tannen the WHOLE time?, while I was TRYING to sleep and recover and breastfeed, etc.) Wanted to kill her. Maybe you had to be there, but that was just weird and biiiiiiiiitchy, and then EVERY TIME I went to the hospital to see Hudson in the NICU, every nurse would say hello to me and THAT bitch would look right through me. WEEIRD.
No, I didn't have to be there, I can imagine how that felt!! Hospital stays can be awful, depending on the nurse on duty.
When I had my son, the nurse was awful, when the next nurse came in for shift change, I was almost ready to deliver. I to this day wish I had her name. She was the best. She talked the doctor out of taking me to a regular operating room and using suction to deliver my son. She said "hey wait a minute, she went through classes and set up this birthing room and everything to have this baby without intervention (something like that) Anyway she got him to back off and talked me through it.
For some reason it sticks in my head that she said "up and out". The doctor was like "what????". But "up and out" helped me alot. I guess there is a slight upward turn in the birth canal, and it helped me push him out.
So a good nurse can go a looooong way!!! And a bad nurse can go........ well you fill in the blank!
I had a similar story to this one!! ((I have to say first ALL but one of the nurses were really wonderful!))
I was in really active labor for 44 1/2 hours and finally had a c-section that i had to be put completely out for...any way while we were in the hospital I hadnt changed any diapers yet ... Well towards the end of my stay some nurse came in and was saying something about diapers and I some what jokingly said "I'm taking advantage of being here and not having to do it" ( I hadnt changed one of his diapers but its not like I dont know how..I used to work in a day care) any way so rudely she said "well you really need to be the one doing that for him otherwise you wont know what to do when you get home
I just felt like such an IDTIOT Embarassed Embarassed and to make matters worse Jefferson had a little bit of trouble latching on for breastfeeding right at first so I had to use a little plastic nipple over mine so he could learn how to the attatch anyway it worked great to get him going but when I brought him in for a jaundice check two days after we left the hospital this same nurse again made me feel like a terrible mother by telling me I shouldnt be using that any more..... Embarassed Embarassed
Kate - they are terrible at making you feel like a failiure because you use a nipple shield! I had to use one with my son too and ended up feeling so discourraged that I stopped nursing him.. I really regret it!!
I dont have any bad doctor or nurse stories, although I really HATED one of Dr Adams interns.... you know when they measure your belly, they press down on some bone of something right above your pubic area? Well the idiot couldnt seem to find the upper part he was suppose to measure too properly and while he was screwing around with the tape at the top of my belly he was applying a LOT of pressure bellow!! God I thought he was going to break the bones down there!! I hated him!
well i for one didn't have a bad expereince in labor & delivery or the maternity ward. my labor and delivery nurses were the best!!! they took turns staying with me the entire time and dr adam was really sweet to me when he came ot check on me and when he delivered my daughter. the maternity ward was pretty good i din't deal with a nurses a ton but the ones i had were pretty decent.
Why is it everyone only ever tells you about the bad stuff? Doctors and nurses work very hard at what they do and are very, very overworked and I'm sure they certainly wouldn't appreciate only the negative stuff being said about them. Maybe if they felt more appreciated by their patients, a lot of the negative stuff wouldn't happen. It's a tough job on a good day without people giving them a hard time over really stupid little things.
I don't know if you noticed or not Anon, but most of the stories shared both a bad and a good experience.
Doctors and nurses do work very hard, but I think some of them get a bit stressed out (and rightly so) and sometimes forget their bedside manners. I don't think for a second anyone here underappreciates those in the medical profession.
When I had my son, he threw up in that little basinet and I called the nurse all panicked. She said "yeah?..........what do you need?" I thought they would run in, take over and change his bedding and all. Nope, I had to list off everything that was soiled, and......do it myself! DUH!! I was a first time mom, they could have been a little more gentle about it!!! Especially with all the messed up hormones we have after giving birth, jeeeesh, they should know we need a little TLC for goodness sakes.
I love to hear ALL the details, especially about this stuff for some reason. What IS with some of these horrible, insensitive nurses? I kept thinking, GEESH, you're in the wrong line of work, honey!
I dont have any doc stories, my doc was great but one of the many nurses told me the day after i had my son, i had him at night.. anyway she told me that women that stay for longer than 24 hours after giving birth were lazzy.. i felt compelled to leave as soon as i could, and i regretted it for weeks after..
I think the major problem a lot of you seem to have is that you have an unrealistic view of what the nurse's role is...and it's not your fault. The media portrays nurses and bearers of unending kindness and willingness to do nothing but dote and comfort when that is soooooo not the case. I'm not a maternity nurse but I am a nurse and I can tell you that there isn't one single nurse I know who wouldn't love to be able to spend more time in the caring and nurturing role and less in the task oriented "just get through the shift" role that often happens because of short staffing and piss poor working conditions. Honestly, you're lucky to have a nurse at ALL when you're in the hospital here...we are so short staffed everywhere. Perhaps instead of griping about the trivial little things that you think were so horrible you might actually want to do something to fix the problem and support nurses and rally the government for more funding to hire and retain more nurses so that the little things you ended up having to do for yourself (heaven forbid!) would have been able to have been done by your nurse. I have a real problem with people feeling like they need to have their nurse wait on them hand and foot when they are perfectly capable and should be doing some things for themselves especially when it comes to taking care of your own baby. You didn't check into the Four Seasons, you came to a hospital to have you baby and learn how to take care of that baby. And before I get flamed, yes I do realize there are some very crabby and crappy nurses out there and a lot of them tend to wind up on maternity floors when they approach retirement because it's generally a more "slack" place to work...but please, have a bit of sense and don't shit on all nurses because you had what you perceived as a "bad" experience because he or she encouraged you to actually do something for yourself or your child.
"learn how to take care of that baby" This is the issue, some people are feeling like they were not helped in the learning process, surely you remember what it was like when you had your first, I can only speak for myself but I was pretty insecure about my role and honestly didnt really know what to do even with prenatals classes, I dont need a nurse making me like an idiot, I need one that will help me learn! Im not asking for them to show me how to change a diaper everytime it needs to be changed, but once would be nice! And the job of the nurses on the maternity floor IS to help new moms in their new role so they should be helping them!
I think this hole discussion is being misunderstood. No one on here is "griping about trivial little things". In case many of you forgot when your a first time mom EVERYTHING IS NEW. Your dealing with the hormones of pregnancy and adjusting to the new role as a mom..and at that moment everything seems important to you. I dont think its fair to say one thing is trivial to one person and not the other...all a new mom needs is support and understanding vand encouragement that she is doing things properly.
We are all aware of the understaffed, underpaid stuff that the hospital staff is dealing with, and i dont think we should be punished for this. This forum is simply a place to share YOUR OPINIONS and experiences..
i agree that people can't expect to be treated like they were in a hotel or something. but for the most part i found more nicer nurses then not. i have a hard time believe the comments about the maternity ward. i was taught by nurses how to wash baby etc. they were wonderful towards me and my daughter in the NICU and in the nursery! i had a hard time lifting and they let me come down to the nursery to sit in a rocker to feed my daughter. the doctors and nurses were all great and the nurses were nice enough to know i was kind of shy and would come ask me if i wanted ibuprofen etc for my pain. they would get my tub ready for me to soak because it helped with the pain. my mother is in the hospital a lot and although there are SOME weird nurses there are also a lot of really nice ones! i have had a few bad doctors but they really have nothing to do with the hospital! as for nurses/drs demanding more money...well i think if they padi them any less we wouldn't have any lol
I had a wonderful experience in the hospital. My labor and delivery nurse actually let me borrow her bassinette for a couple of weeks in my home until my crib was delivered!
The only bad thing that happened to me was when my own family doctor came to check on me after my c-section and made me feel bad for not breast feeding. Trust me, I tried. My milk didn't even come in until a week later!
Either way, all my nurses and Dr. Adams were wonderful.
Angry Anon commentors, relax. Because angry comments get angry replies and this place is not for that. It's to share experiences, good and bad. Period.
If they got paid any less??? I am sorry but I find it so awful how greedy they are with money. They make a LOT more than most families with two incomes, who are struggling to survive... and THAT saddens me.
Ha! Are you kidding me!?! Let's compare here...nurses make like 2% of what a doctor makes and we're the ones who do pretty much all of the work. None of us got into nursing for the money because trust me...it ain't there! Getting paid on par with the rest of the country would be nice though...
i agree with what drs get paid...i really don't agree with that they are 'greedy' with their money...i mean hello they went to school and WORKED for it lol i do think nurses should get more than what they get...
you don't think drs should get paid what they do? its not going 4 years for an arts degree or just attending community college for 10 months! they go to school for a long time and put in long hours! you think they're overpaid ? lol
so you think drs and nurses should get paid less...guess that means no overtime. hmmm whatever would you do when you have to take your child to the ER and theres no dr on cause no money to pay them overtime etc. or your dr's office hours are cut back...
Hmm, egg them on? I think they're doing a fine job by themselves, thank you very much.
If I was trying to provoke people, I would probably start with "Anonymous, you suck. Get an account and tell us who you are, you big coward!"
But I won't. I'll stick to me non-sensical humor. Besides, why would I stop reading the comments? You people are freaking hilarious trying to prove your points.
Can't you see that none of you will win, here?? one of you seem to be willing to budge on who's right/wrong.
So in conclusion, the atmosphere in this comments section is making my toe nails turn inside out.
anyway, when I was in labor, I had wisely, knowing my limits, planned for an epidural--worked with the labor as long as I could without (mine went very fast--I was having nonstop contractions, jumping from one to the other and dialated to 8 cm within four hours of onset) but when the doc came in he was not the guy he was supposed to be--due to some unforeseen circumstance no one from my doc's office was on call. This guy didn't believe in epidurals so he insisted that mine run out before transition so I could push better--the nurse kept agreeing with him instead of advocating for me, saying that only selfish mothers considered their own pain first--she herself had had three kids, no meds--told me I should consider the pain a badge of honor. I dunno, folks, I kind of think looking at pain as honorable is way tooooo male for me...and who needs badges? I was pushing a human being out of my body--that's badge enough for anyone--but then that's me...would've been just as glad to have the epi...if I had the chance to live it again--some hell would've been raised.
This wasnt at the dech but still a bad experience nonetheless.
ok..they both make a lot of money..but in comparison to what? someone could be on social assistance and the salary of a receptionist would seem like a lot.. i think going to unviersity for degrees warrants a good paying job! i doubt there is anyone who would disagree on that one..
Well said! But since we're all so horrible anyway why do you all even bother coming in and having babies and getting health care services either? I bet you'd change your tune if there were no nurses to tend to you!
Just drop it already.. GAWD do you always have to be picking a fight with people "miss nurse" its annoying. Grow up, and just agree to disagree will ya?!
You can't seriously believe that someone who is on welfare makes the same as a nurse!! Nurses make 25$ an hour!!! Look for yourselves: http://www.jobfutures.ca/noc/3152.shtml
um...first of all..that post you are referring too wasn't saying a nurse made that little I was saying that you might see it as a lot but someone who does the job and is the one who does the ACTUAL work for the job may not see it as a lot. but...when you do 12 hour shifts on your feet in that type of work then i guess you can argue that point but until then..
FYI That's the average starting wage of nurses...NB nurses start out at a lot less than that. And the poster above me is right...when you work 12 hours on your feet for patients like you all, even $25 doesn't cut it for the crap we put up with. I just started reading this blog and I'm really disappointed with how jaded you all seem.
This is crazy! Why focus on all the negative stuff that happened? It's not like it's going to change anything to hash it out on some random blog on the internet. If you had a problem with your nurse, you should have spoke up at the time, not waited to growl about it later.
Oh PUUHlease people. I was just starting a topic so that people can vent about some stories, and obviously there are lots of them. Give it a rest will ya. You are being really defensive, and usually when people are defensive, there IS a reason.
We have already proved you wrong. You make a LOT of money for what you do. And I am sorry but you are ignorant if you believe that someone who stays on their feet for 12 hours could only be described as a nurse, WAKE UP!! and Get over yourself lady! I am not saying YOU are bad at what you do, but some people DID go into the field for the money! and you can't deny that!
lol no kidding. you know what you didn't not have bad nurses or drs. you think they are bad because they didn't make you feel special or god forbig said something that you didn't like. bad drs are drs that don't care for thier patitnets properly like not doing the right tests or helping their patients get better or picking up on symptoms of a life threatening disease! thats a bad doctor. and really did your nurse try to kill you? she kept you alive and pain free am i right? seems thats what the job description is! why whine about some trivial thing such as a sarcastic comment.
I'm sorry, but I find this thread extremely rude and offensive and I would like to see ANYONE of you all do the job I do and be as chipper and sweet as you expect all these nurses to be. It's a HARD job and the only reason we do it is because we love it. Definitley not for the money or the work conditions because we do NOT get paid enough for the crap we put up with from patients who expect the spa treatment and to be waited on hand and foot.
Ok so maybe your nurse might have been a little short with you when she shouldn't have...but did you EVER stop to think what kind of day SHE might have been having?
We're human too, you know and we have bad days at work just like the rest of you. The fact that we might make $25 an hour does NOT change that. Whether you work at Tim Horton's and have customers be assholes to you or you work in a hospital and have patients be assholes to you makes no difference. It's all about respect. If you want your nurse to respect you, respect her. Treat her with some kindness and you're bound to get a little extra something done for you.
It's hard! And people don't realize that a lot of the time, we are working unsafely with far too high a patient load. We're not supposed to have more than 5 patients assigned to us during a day shift, and there are a lot of times when we have upwards of 10 and if you get one or two really sick ones in that assignment, you can rest assured that your nurse is not going to have time to fluff your pillow or get you a glass of water or make your bed when you want it and she has also probably gone without breakfast, breaks and lunch just to stay on top of things.
Now if you had a day like that, how happy go lucky would YOU be? Would you be skipping along on an empty stomach with a full bladder singing tra la la and farting out fairy dust? Not a bloody chance! So why would you expect us to be like that? You wouldn't work your job with no breaks and be happy about it, why should you expect us to?
You should count yourself lucky that you even HAD a nurse to care for you when you were in hospital and that you got the level of care you did because in a few years, there are going to be about half the nursing force retiring and no one to replace them due to budget cuts and no seats in nursing school.
I'm absolutely appalled at how little support and recognition nurses are getting on this site.
Try looking at things from our perspective before you start spewing about how "annoying" and "rude" and "giant bitches" we are. So what if your nurse made you change YOUR CHILD'S diaper. Hello! You're that child's mother. That's what you are SUPPOSED to do. And it's their JOB to make sure you know how to do it.
We try our best to make patients comfortable and care for them as best we can...and when you come across what you perceive as a "good" nurse, you can't even take the time to bother to find out what her name was. And you wonder why some of us are grouchy?
Cindy, I still don't understand why you are being so defensive. No one is attacking you. And if this were a thread about bad waitresses, I am sure the ones who do their jobs and do it well like troopers, would understand when people want to vent about those who don't. Seriously though, you need to relax, you are ruining this topic for everyone! And you are trying to change the topic!! when people try and get back to it, you keep going on and on. No one is saying you are a bad nurse. or that all nurses are bad.. stop getting off topic
Well, lets go back to comparing this to another field like, oh, waiting. Just because a customer is rude, does NOT give YOU the right to reciprocate that attitude. Same goes for nursing. Except, Oh wait, you get payed WAY MORE!!! Once again, this thread is not about "bad nursing" it is about, bad experiences... Move on. Agree to disagree. You are making yourself look bad by not acknowledging the fact that 'once again' though you may be a fantastic nurse, some of us have and some of us have not, had bad experiences with nurses who MAY BE GREAT PEOPLE but were being not so pleasant with us!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND??!!
I have to say that I had both a positive and negative experience at the DECH.
While in labour the nurse tayed with me the whole time. I honestly don't think I would have got thru labour without her. Howver I must add that my whole delivery took 4 1/2 hours from the time I arrived till he was born.
But once I went to the ward it was hell. I delivered at 2 30 am....and was handed the baby at 5 30 am telling me that he was hungry..that was fine only for the fact that I am a firt time mother and had no idea what to do..I found it very difficult ..and not to mention the fact that you are drugged up from giving birth anyways. I guess that shift change must have occured some time in that time frame cause at 0800 a differnt nurse came back and was getting mad cause the baby hadn't eaten yet....I just kept trying to get him to latch....but with no success. I feel that they lacted teaching me the basice..it was if I was supposed to know....like burping etc. They did show me how to bathe him but other then that I left feeling unprepared to look after the baby.
Well, if your a nurse yourself and your having a baby...just don't tell them your a nurse!!!! Post-partum care was the pits!!! Now, i don't if it's because they new i was an RN, but the care was very minimal. It was my first baby, i had no clue half the time what i was doing, it seemed like they thought i knew how to handle breasfeeding, because they were never there to really show me what to do. I think my husband was the most helpful person during my hospital stay. There's not enough teaching on breasfeeding while in the hospital, and to me that is the critical time when baby is learning. And, yes it helps to read all the books and pamphlets before hand, but everyone knows that it's not the same thing in real life!!! If your gonna be a new mom soon, don't be afraid to ask for assitance while in the hospital as much as possible. And if it just doesn't work, you gotta tell someone and talk about it. And, breasfeeding is NOT suppose to hurt, i was made to believe that it will hurt for a while and gotta get used to it. NO, this is not true. Anyways, this was my experience, i hope yours is better!!!
I had execellent nurses, amazing doctors and I loved everything they did for me. HATS OFF TO THE STAFF AT CHALMERS! The only bad experience that I had was that I had a hemotoma (blood clot) in my abodmen from my csection, the incision split open and I had to let it stay that way. So I had to get packed with Gauze ( 4 1/2 yards) twice a day until I was released from hospital 8 days later. Then extra mural came to my house to pack the wound.
Okay so my complaint is...One nurse packed my wound with DRY Gauze...DRY... so I healed with dry gauze. So, when it came time to change it...well let's just say it took two hours, 5 big bottles of saline and a lot of lamaze breathing. The worst part is, on my file it clearly stated pack wet to dry.
To give you an idea...when extra mural did it, it took about 5-10 minutes.
I think the staff is amazing, and they are over worked and mistakes happen. Just wish it did not happen to me.
Cindy, I am so sorry that you find this offensive. If I were in your shoes I would feel the same way, and a lot of the time I am. I am a social worker...and well you know how well liked we are. Don't take it personal, people need to vent about their expereinces and it does not reflect on the nursing profession as a whole, I think if you were to ask anyone, we have much love and respect for the jobs you do. I sure the hell could not do it.
Just like teachers, Doctors, Social workers, Nurses etc., there are bad ones out there that make it bad for the rest of us. That is the way of the world.
Start a discussion group on the goodness the Nurses do. I had one bad expereince, and Cindy it was VERY BAD! But, I had great expereinces with the staff, they were amazing. I bought them candies and a card for their kindness to my husband and I. The breastfeeding nurses were amazing and spent hours with me trying to help me, all the nurses did and helped me every step of the way. One nurse held my hand in the nursery while I cried because I was not able to breastfeed.
One nurse was pregnant and I loved her, she treated me so nice and we would often joke and laugh as I would say I will meet her down the hall because she was getting me something as we both waddled.
Another Nurse was so great, and would talk with me, check on me often and chat with me when she was in my room. i felt the nurses were there for me and I had soo much support, an 8 day hospital stay gives you a chance to know the staff!
So, I know it is hard to hear your profession attacked in the manner that it is, but know that it has nothing to do with you personally and just some expereinces people had. There is a bad apple in all professions. Thank you for defending yours!
I had my first child when I was 19 and I did not have a clue what I was doing with a baby or what to expect from anyone at the hospital. When I went in my water broke so the nurse set me up in a room and told me it will be a while before the baby comes so get some rest and let her no when I wanted something for pain this was about 11.30pm. Around 3:30am I was getting intence contractions so I asked for something she gave me a shot of demoral and I was out like a light the only thing I remember is the nurse comming in to check me at 6:50am and I told her I had to push it was funny when she said no not yet the doctor is not here. I pushed anyway all it took was 2 pushes and she was out and the nurse delivered her. From then was hell for me they sent me in to shower by myself and I could barly keep my eyes open then I was sent to my room and dont remember much at all my boyfriend says the nurses were horible. The night before I went home I kept the baby in my room I had a private room and the girl that was in the next room was still pregnant and in the night I could not get the baby to calm down and the nurse came in and told me if I didnt get her to stop crying she was going to take her because the girl next to me was complaning I was so pissed off at that point it was not funny but I but the baby in my bed and she was calm and not making a fuss then the nurse came in and said I was not aloud to have her in my bed with me and then she grabed her well she started to scream again and another nurse came in and asked what was going on to make a long story short the nurse gave the baby back to me and she slept in my bed.
My second child everything was great all the nurses were fantastic started out the same water broke at 1pm and they had to induse me at 8pm because nothing was happening the nurse delivered again at 11:58pm this time there was no privates avable so I had a semi-private but during the delivery this time I asked for something else that was not going to knock me out the nurse said fetanol which was great. They kept her in the nursery the whole night I kept asking them when they came to check on me if she was awake and needed to eat but they kept telling me she was fine to get some sleep. The nurse brought her in around 6am and the never got her back, only long enough to get the tests done and that was it I never let her out of my site. The next morning I asked if I could go home.
The nurses I think were hard on me the first time because I was so young and so dopped up I could not do anything but my second they were great and the second time I had to share a room and the first night I could of killed the girls husband because he was so insentive and the second night I got a good feel for what the nurses really have to put up with when the girl was calling her everytime the baby needed the diaper changed or feed just anything I think the nurses have alot to do and as mothers we should take care of the babies if we are able to do so. It wrong of us to think we should get waited on hand and foot.

well i for one didn't have a bad expereince in labor & delivery or the maternity ward. my labor and delivery nurses were the best!!! they took turns staying with me the entire time and dr adam was really sweet to me when he came ot check on me and when he delivered my daughter. the maternity ward was pretty good i din't deal with a nurses a ton but the ones i had were pretty decent.
oh yeah and i didn't change a diaper once when in the hospital but nobody ever made any comments to me...
And it's not just here...it's everywhere. Nurses and doctors get the shaft no matter where they are talked about.
"learn how to take care of that baby"
This is the issue, some people are feeling like they were not helped in the learning process, surely you remember what it was like when you had your first, I can only speak for myself but I was pretty insecure about my role and honestly didnt really know what to do even with prenatals classes, I dont need a nurse making me like an idiot, I need one that will help me learn!
-sini
You think YOU are punished for it? Try being on the other side of the bed...
maybe if nurses and doctors didnt DEMAND to be payed so much, they would not be so understaffed/overworked
listen, anon nurse, maybe if you hate your job and think its soo awful you should have gone into a different field of work.
i agree that people can't expect to be treated like they were in a hotel or something. but for the most part i found more nicer nurses then not. i have a hard time believe the comments about the maternity ward. i was taught by nurses how to wash baby etc. they were wonderful towards me and my daughter in the NICU and in the nursery! i had a hard time lifting and they let me come down to the nursery to sit in a rocker to feed my daughter. the doctors and nurses were all great and the nurses were nice enough to know i was kind of shy and would come ask me if i wanted ibuprofen etc for my pain. they would get my tub ready for me to soak because it helped with the pain. my mother is in the hospital a lot and although there are SOME weird nurses there are also a lot of really nice ones! i have had a few bad doctors but they really have nothing to do with the hospital! as for nurses/drs demanding more money...well i think if they padi them any less we wouldn't have any lol
A lot of people go to school, anon, and they don't make that much money.
And I highly doubt that nurses get below average wages.
Really Kim? Maybe you should look things up before you make assumptions because you know what they say about when you assume...
you don't think drs should get paid what they do? its not going 4 years for an arts degree or just attending community college for 10 months! they go to school for a long time and put in long hours! you think they're overpaid ? lol
do you know how much nurses make in a year?
What does this mean? "because you know what they say about when you assume..."
I think the point is, they are draining all the money on themselves because they make so much!! How do you expect the gov't to pay for all that!!
Um no...money in health care is being misused in other areas not on paying staff adequately.
so you think drs and nurses should get paid less...guess that means no overtime. hmmm whatever would you do when you have to take your child to the ER and theres no dr on cause no money to pay them overtime etc. or your dr's office hours are cut back...
yep..sounds like a fabulous plan.
All these angry and bitchy comments are giving me menopause.
And you think you just added something constructive?
Again with the angry comments. You people are giving me the vapours.
ladylipgloss...maybe you should stop reading it then because it's pretty obvious you are just trying to egg them on.
So in conclusion, the atmosphere in this comments section is making my toe nails turn inside out.
do you have any proof of nurses salaries compared to other salaries?
Proof? None that I care to share... but I can tell you that my mother in law is a nurse, and father in law a doctor, they BOTH make a lot of money...
Nurse Anon - if you dont like your job or pay (which you really dont seem to) then you may want to consider changing floors, or hospitals.
anyway, when I was in labor, I had wisely, knowing my limits, planned for an epidural--worked with the labor as long as I could without (mine went very fast--I was having nonstop contractions, jumping from one to the other and dialated to 8 cm within four hours of onset) but when the doc came in he was not the guy he was supposed to be--due to some unforeseen circumstance no one from my doc's office was on call.
-Shannon
-Shannon
Um no. Karen you started this topic so you could bash nursing.
-Cindy, RN
blah blah blah...
No one is saying you are a bad nurse. or that all nurses are bad.. stop getting off topic
i agree
You all obviously missed the point. The point is "bad nursing" is that way because of bad patients and forums that exploit nursing like this one is.
I am gonna have to agree with anon on this one, sorry Cindy, but let it go hon.
-Jackie
THANK YOU!
