"My 3 year old, Elizabeth threw a huge tantrum in the Superstore today- Yeah, that was me, I was mortified!! What do you do when your kid does that? I was tempted to say- Where is HER mother? She wouldn't give, I tried bribing her with a toy from the toy aisle- nothing worked. I ended up having to leave the store, WITHOUT buying anything. I don't even know what the tantrum was for!! Oh Moms if I have ever needed advice I need it now. Not that this happens to me all the time, but I am tempted to leave her home next time for fear of utter and total embarrassment. So, how do you deal with this?"

I think you did the right thing by leaving
Yeah, the best thing you can do is remove yourself and the child. Most times, a few minutes chilling out the car will diffuse a temper tantrum.
My son does the same thing, for no apparent reason. And like LadyLipgloss said, just removing yourself and your child from the situation for a few minutes, even just to sit outside the store can be just enough to diffuse them. However, leaving her home is probably not your best option. That way she will never adjust to going out to places like the grocery store and your going to be faced with a bigger (and much more mobile) problem down the road when you have to bring her out with you.
