Snoring Toddler

My 1 1/2 year old son snores. He has been doing it for a long time, since he was just a baby. Anyone else experienced this?

This could be a health concern. It could be a problem with tonsils or a problem with allergies even. You might want to ask your doc about this one.

There is absolutely NO reason to worry about this. Kids do the same things adults do. My son will be 2 next month, and he snores just like his daddy does. He always has. And he never has any problem breathing. If it concerns you or bothers you, you could just move your child when they snore so they will stop.

My daughter started snoring at about 1 1/2, I asked the DR if she might have a problem. He said it was probably her tonsils, (I think) that were just to big for her throat, but she'd grow out of it. He offered to do tests, but it seemed harmless enough. So, I never took him up on the tests. She is a very petite girl.....and at 6 she still snores, not as often though.
Or as loud.

Snoring is usually a symptom of a problem with adnoids and tonsils. My son snored so loud the house shook (LOL) and once he had his adnoids and tonsils removed he no longer snored.

I've had several specialists (an ENT and a speech language pathologist) tell me it is not normal for a healthy toddler (ie. not sick with a cold or allergies) to snore. It could be related to enlarged tonsils or adenoids, among other things. My son recently had his adenoids removed (he's 2 1/2) and is a much quieter sleeper now!

I agree with Heidi. It's not normal for a toddler to snore when there is no cold or allergy present. Enlarged adenoids and/or tonsils can lead to obstructive sleep apnea which can be dangerous (it means you stop breathing in your sleep). I would definitely go to your doctor sooner rather than later.

Before my son turned 2 he snored so loud that I thought it was my husband. The doctor gave us a spray for his nose and as horrible as it was to give to him, it worked.
